A note on my gallery.

Wed Jun 3, 2009, 9:13 PM
Before viewing my gallery please be aware that it spans a period of 2 years. I am keeping this gallery as a picture of progression, even if my early stuff is embarrassingly bad. I keep those bits and bobs here because I want to show people (though mainly myself) that even if you are feeling hopeless, if you strive and work hard enough you will always get better.
I'm not saying I'm great, or even very good but I do feel that everything I've posted here represents a step forward.

Keep in mind that there are literally hundreds of sketches and other pieces that I didn't post here, merely because they weren't very interesting, half finished or I simply couldn't be bothered. That being said, I have the work ethic of a turnip, so most people should be able to progress much quicker than I have.

Sorry for my bad english, and thanks for the TIP!
You're very welcome and your english is pretty good. :)
thanks for the support! i work harder on the next project.
You're welcome and that's a great attitude to have to your work. I'll pop you on my watch list so I can see your new stuff. :)
Looks like you've gotten alot better, man. Keep it up. Btw, it really might help to get your art more attention if you comment on alot of other people's work. Just a tip you might want to think about.

Btw, i'd have come to check out your work sooner, but I thought I had you on my watch list and I didn't.

Yeah, this is a consious decision. I look at others work, but I try not to comment unless I think I have crit that's going to be useful to them. I want my stuff to stand on it own, I don't want people commenting on my stuff because they think it's polite (he said something nice about mine, so i'll say something nice on his), it's an endemic problem on DA. If people comment on my stuff I want them to do it because they genuinley like it or if they have a good crit, not because they feel obligated.
Sorry that's a bit long winded and may sound a bit weird, but I'm eager to improve not to be popular.

More people are bound to look at your work if you're more popular. You may have five comments on something now, but if you get ten friends that like your work, you'll have ten people looking at your work and pointing out problems among other things. Aside from that, it's probably more enjoyable for the artist if their work gets more views and comments because then they'll have reason to post more of their work. Sometimes people will post like twenty pieces of work, get no views, and then leave for good. I know that alot of the time I give generic comments, but I like to let people know that there are people out there that are looking at their work.

I understand what you're saying, but being popular leads to more comments and more comments leads to more people possibly helping you.
